We are trying to raise $474,000 to build a 220-225 foot, youth-sized field with concrete dugouts, fencing, concession stands and lights. This will provide a safe place for children and families to celebrate life and learn how to make responsible, life-long decisions.

It will encourage active and healthy lifestyles, build community togetherness, encourage families to spend and enjoy time together, and build a place where children are encouraged to dream big and learn that through hard work and vision, their dreams can become reality!

Although Treyton is now playing on the “real” field of dreams in heaven, with your help we can help thousands of other children have a better future, and learn responsible life-long decision making skills.

Turf for ballfield gets nod

The Whitewater Common Council received an earful Tuesday during a special meeting to take action on the artificial turf for the Treyton Kilar Field of Dreams.

After a nearly two-hour session, the council ultimately approved the synthetic turf usage for the youth baseball field … with certain amendments.

The vote was 6-0; councilperson Ken Kidd was unable to attend the special meeting.

Trey’s Story Recognized as WTMJ wins national Edward R. Murrow award

Congratulations to Newsradio 620 WTMJ’s Dan O’Donnell. A story he did about the Kilar Family in 2011 has won a national Edward R. Murrow award for sports reporting. The award is among the most prestigious in our industry.

Dan’s story first competed in with entries from four other states. He then went on to compete with entries from stations across the country.

The story is about a little boy from our area who was killed in a car crash that was caused by a drunk driver in 2010. Treyton Kilar loved baseball and the Brewers.

His family is raising money to build a youth-sized baseball field with concrete dugouts, fencing, concession stands and lights. Not only did the Brewers make a huge donation to the effort, but they also invited the family to throw out the first pitch during the NLCS last year. Trey’s father threw the pitch to his son’s idol, Prince Fielder.

WHITEWATER–Mike and Mary Kilar have gone through what no parent ever should: their son Treyton was killed just shy of his seventh birthday. “The car was struck, at the time we didn’t know what had hit us but when we came to rest you know some of the kids were screaming,” said Mike, of the accident that killed their son.

Dad throws first pitch in memory of son

They celebrate their son, Treyton Kilar, the biggest Brewers fan you ever saw, a 6-year-old kid with a mop of blond hair, a worn baseball glove and a Prince Fielder jersey he wouldn’t let his mom throw into the wash.

It was the jersey that Fielder himself wrapped his arm around when Treyton went to a Brewer on Deck event in January 2010, when the little boy got the big man’s autograph and then posed for a photo with his idol. The first snapshot didn’t work out so well and someone tried to move the kid along when Fielder intervened and said, “You stay right here little man.
